2 Weeks After SurgeryDee, Sun Oct 5 10:16PM
I'm doing pretty good. I had my surgery on 9/22. I just had 26 staples removed last Friday. That feels better without them, they did kind of pull a little. The one thing I am having so many problems with is the loving white Ted hose. How long do we have to wear those horrible, horrible things? I have dents in my... more

I have never been affected by weather changes with aches and pains. This is my 2nd THR (5 weeks ago) and yet, witout fail, when the rain is going to come, (not when it is actually raining) my hip aches so much more. The first time it happened, it was a fairly nice day and I had, the day before, been making so much... more

I haven't taken a flight since THR. I have a titanium hip. Will it set off the airport security walk through scanner? If yes, does that just mean I get a hand wand scan?

But there is still "discomfort", I have the last dose of Vicodin here which will be taken tomorrow morning. Not addicted to it, but wondering what to take to ease up the discomfort as I am not... more

Excellent 14 week post RTHR follow upSandra from England, Sun Sep 28 4:13AM
I had my RTHR on 19 June. It really has transformed my life. My OS was pleased. I have slightly more flexibility on my right hip than on my left hip which was replaced in May 2002. My OS wrote that everything was good both radiography and clinically. She said to continue with PT until both the physio and I agreed ... more

As some of you might recall, I've posted on here about the severe sciatic nerve palsy I have that resulted from RTHR on 9/11/07. Well, while lying in bed reading Sunday night, 9/14/08, I had an overwhelming feeling that made me put my book down and try to push my foot down. IT MOVED!!!! I didn't believe it at first ... more

Hi All! I'm about 8 weeks out after RTHR. I was non weight bearing for the initial 6 weeks (non-cemented), and on top of that I have been non-weight bearing for almost the last year due to a long complicated story. 2 weeks ago I was given the ok (finally) to start weight bearing as tolerated. I'm doing really well ... more

My right hip replacement was on September 20,2005. The left one was done on May 23, 2003. So far so good. I just hope it stays that way. At least I got rid of the horrible pain that I suffered with the first one for several years. The second one sent me to the OS in a hurry. I have slight bursitis in both hips.... more

Stress fractures in FemurVicki, Thu Sep 25 12:49AM
Hi Everyone! Very long time since I last posted. I have a question for anyone that can answer or give some feedback, please. I had a RTH revision 9/25/07, pretty nasty compared to the first RTHR and LTHR, according to my Ortho. Saved as much natural bone as possible, but quite a bit of grafting to build up this time.... more

Hello everyone. It has been a while since I needed a help me post. Five years post op and the RTHR is doing great. That said over the past few months I have had several flare up of boils. My OS sent me directly to infectious disease at Pennsylvania Hospital. The first time I treated with antibiotic for 10 days and it... more

Hi all, I haven't posted here in quite some time, as I've had very few problems since my RTHR in early 2006. But, in the last couple of months I have experienced significant (excruciating! horrible! unbearable!) pain from the actual hip area down through my thigh. For a while, I thought it was getting better and... more

Hi everyone. I had my right hip replaced August 18th and so far I am doing fine. I am in my second week of physical therapy and they have started with 3 lb. weights on my right ankle so I can do leg lifts and slides. I haven't driven yet but I expect to soon. My first surgeon appt. is Oct. 1st. I am planning on... more

Hi everyone, I had my right hip revised from Conserve + implant to THR on Monday Sept. 15. After surgery the surgeon tells me the cup was overhanging the pelvic bone the entire circumference of the cup. This was probably the cause of the pain and swelling. He also mentioned he noticed the old implant was surrounded... more

Underlying bilateral hip dysplasia and RTHRSandra from England, Tue Sep 23 2:02AM
I am now 14 weeks post op and am seeing my surgeon again tomorrow. I am delighted with my new hip and all the hip pain has gone. However, my PT in hospital saids it can take anything from 6 months to 18 months to build up the muscles when there is underlying dysplasia. Has anyone else heard this? After 5 weeks... more

VicodinRici, Mon Sep 22 1:43PM
I have taken Vicodin since they took me off the morphine drip in the hospital. I know this is a drug that some people use for illicit use, and I am wondering what reason for it. When I take it, I experience a feeling of maybe having had 2 drinks...but nothing euphoric. It helps with the pain but does not eliminate... more
